Donna M. McCullough
McCullough began producing bold, elegant metal sculptures in 1995 and has since shown them in galleries throughout Washington DC and around the U.S. Inspired by the perception of women as delicate creatures and the reality of their steely resolve, McCullough uses steel embellished with wire mesh, screening, cut-outs and bits of found objects to create series of sculptures that appear feminine and soft, yet strong and rigid. Two of her current series are The Kitchen series woven of coffee, cookie and other tins, and The Drill Team, a whimsical take on our oil-driven culture and desire to be on a winning team, made with vintage gas and oil cans to resemble cheerleading outfits. McCullough attended the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Corcoran College of Art and Design.
